well, it's funny. just as mandy suddenly comes up to talk about maths.. i'm gonna talk about maths as well, and refer to the same teacher in the process.. what a coincidence~

i was not shortlisted for the maths S paper. this despite getting an A in maths. ok, my overall results were ACE, not too great, but still alright. the reason given for my not being granted an opportunity to sit for the selection test was that i was taking 3 subjects and therefore had no real use for S paper. y y y on earth always so obsessed with the fact tt results must always decide how people are chosen and what future benefits they will bring.. obviously, they think that the people taking 3 subjects will not necessarily do well in whatever extra things they do.

the fact lies therein that the teachers don't want to mark the extra papers of those extra students hoping to take the s paper selection test. here i am, asking for chance to sit for the selection test. i don't demand that i be allowed to take the s paper;tt's really really too much. the selection test is meant to weed out the incompetents, and for those who don't make the mark, at least, tt test was concrete proof... how can you possibly reject a student based on his situation or the supposed assumptions accompanying the student...

what i can draw from this is tt the sch is obessessed with excellence. they don't believe in gving the other students a chance to try for higher and more. they believe tt we should do e bare minimum.. here we are, trying to add value to ourselves, trying to rise to the challenge.. how can all this spirit and wanna-be attitude possibly survive if all the windows of opportunity were closed to everyone...

anyway, i've finally persuaded my maths teacher to check it out for me. he is doing so reluctantly, he's just so disillusioned with the school and all the politics tt accompanies it. manz.. it's pretty difficult coming up against a block like him.. well, he's asking, thankfully, and i hope tt i'll be allowed to take the selection test.
