it was great.. it is still great.. and this memory will stay with me for a long while.

the swimming finals and the swimming competition reached its climax on wednesday. acjc was edged out by rjc by some 18 points, the final score stood at 210 to ac and 228 to rj. our girls' team also came in as runners-up, although by a far greater margin.

in my 2 finals', i finished in 7th for the 200m breastroke, clocking a very unimpressive 3 minutes, a full 3 seconds slower than my timing in the heats. i overprepared for the race, thinking about it too much and being too obsessed with swimming a good race. in the end, i did myself in. in the 100m finals, on the final day of competition, i lowered my heats timing and my personal best by half a second, clocking a 1 min 18.20 seconds. still, it wasn't enough and i finished 2 seconds slower than the 7th place competitor.

i garnered 3 points in all.

and this has made this year worth it. i came in this year, i didn't want to have it pass as a year where i spent all of it studying and doing nothing else. i decided that i could prove myself again. up i went to the teacher, told her i would like to swim for the school. it is not those points that they dangle before u; it is the swell and unbeatable experience of being involved in a full-blooded competition. it is a wholesome test of ur mental and physical preparedness, u fight against the elements, and against urself.

the last time i qualified for a final in swimming at the nationals for an individual event was in primary 6, also the 100m breastroke, where, i qualified as eight, and finished 8th. i came out of that particular race feeling like a million bucks, having pitted myself against the club swimmers and not faring too badly.

i'll want to continue swimming. it's a great sport. if u're free, go for a dip too. yeah.
