The timing of the events cannot be more unprecedented.

Earthquake in 2003: city of Bam, Iran. over 30,000 killed.

Earthquake in 2004: the biggest earthquake in 40 years sets off tsunami wave that claims victims in several asian countries, including m'sia, thailand and indonesia.

The Day: 26th december

the death toll from this natural disaster supercedes the combined death toll of the war in iraq.

i cannot feel anything but sadness for the victims of the circumstances.

is it a way of reminding us to treasure our lives? is it a way of limiting the exploding world population?

i'm thinking about life and i'm thankful for my life. i'm thankful for every face i see; on the bus, on the train, in the cars, on the streets, in restaurants - everywhere. don't be so glum. some people, as we are reminded in such shocking fashion, don't have a chance to say goodbye or do anything more. we have one life, enjoy it.

so in ur merrymaking, ur drinking and songs and laughter, exercise ur ability to think and reflect, i'm glad u are around, coz u r privileged and entrusted to make this world a better place. you are here for a reason.
