my dear colleagues are such a lively bunch. just yesterday, we were proudly proclaiming our status as being lifeguards of the safest pool in singapore. 4 people looking after a pool; one pool supervisor and three lifeguards. number of people swimming: zero. can u beat that? public pools are anytime more crowded than the chevrons pool.

and they like to compete in swimming. they all have a love for swimming. now we are busy establishing the fastest swimmer of the lifeguards who have made a mark at chevrons. but it's their love for the sport, at ages approaching forty and just over forty, they are happy to be correcting their strokes or simply boasting about their feats. it is funny what people there are in this world. i find that the youth swimmers i've been with, make no mistake i still am a youth, have the ability to swim very fast but would like to talk about other things as well. my colleagues do too; 'chicken' visits are weekly affairs, spending their monies on various kind of vices, be it betting, gambling or what not. life isn't so simple, is it?

but i'm glad to be there working. it has been barely a month i've been there. it has been an eye opener and singaporeans are unfortunately segregated into the ite, the poly, the n level, the a level the uni. your education level does decide where you stand for your life in Singapore. tt aside, chevrons is a lovely place as much time is spent, doing, nothing. as life in a club should be, idyllic, pressure free and just relaxed.

of course, being too relaxed is not advisable. my colleague, a guy w e maintanence department, took umbrage at my being stretched out on a pooldeck chair, reading a book and consuming a banana, in full view of the bowling alley, the gym, the cafe and the jackpot room.
