Field camp and SIT test are over. man, the toughest part of bmt is just about over. What's left is the 16 klic route march on tuesday n tt infamous 24 klic graduation march; the SOC challenge and the battle to do PBs for IPPT, however silly n non-applicable at times, but still very crucial in the eyes of the assessors in the army. No more outfield training, hopefully no more combat rations for a month. combat rations are like this. Initially, it's the novelty that pushes you to try out every menu. Most NSmen will concur that as time passes, combat rations will taste the same mostly, and even lose their taste. i enjoyed my combo rations during field camp. Give me a 5 day break from it and put me back on it n i find the taste so bland n unappealing. The pasta, noodles n rice, it's all about eating to survive n see the day through. Even the army biscuits have lost that umphh; i don't really find the cake version or dry version as appealing as before. Perhaps it's like that. i don't hummpp n frump about the food when i'm eating, simply because i value my surival n need to replenish much drained energy stores, for another new day will bring newer n perhaps tougher challenges.

Scorpion company takes care of our welfare. Our 2 i/c is marvellous. The OC (officer commander) n him takes care of us. They screw our sergeants when they are not up to par n they say all these nice comforting things to us. during field camp, we watched we were soldiers. man i remember that movie so well coz although it was meant to help us relax, i couldn't sleep well at all coz of my seated position during the movie that caused me lots of grief at my neck. During the sit test, on both nights we were outfield, we caught hitch n national treasure, relatively current movies. Those were good shows.

My detail (Hawk or Hotel) was quite a decent lot. We were just lumped together to work as a team n i think we did a marvellous job. There was significant improvement with regards to our performance over the 2 days. We got quite different assessors. The first was skinny n appeared nice at first while the second was brawn n he had us in awe with his introduction to us. His first words were, wipe tt smile of your face, addressed to one of my detail mates who was smiling widely. I prefer the second guy coz he was more honest with us n we were more certain as to what we were to expect from him. I'm happy with my personal performance although i certainly could have restricted the number of vulgarities i muttered while tying or untying knots. My knot-tying abilities definitely helped me out there. being signaller was quite fun n it did help me get tru the day, drawing comfort from the voices of the other signallers. One even radioed in a snake sighting, but haiz, it was even shorter than a metre. SIT test wasn't too bad.
