u get to see all sorts of people. the whiners, the strong ones, the silent ones, the moody ones. when the going gets tough, u see the real person.

i had a severe lack of sleep tru n tru. first night was spent doing guard duty,a matter of volunteering. i decided to go for it coz u r the freshest on the first day, so better do it when i still had the energy. i had three hours of sleep and was watched like a hawk by the wsm, who was sleeping behind my command post. he stalked me and checked on me constantly. i was slapped with guard duty for the second night, but not the case as the activities proved to be very exhausting.but do guard duty twice coz i slept intermmitently, and twice in a row? 'm fraid not.

the next day of navigation saw my section holland at night. we were bashing in the forest and holly mama, we found ourselves, just lost. we didn't know where we were. it was deja vu. take it from me, i've been in this situation before. just moving tru the forest without knowing when u can get out it. we trekked on for an hour with our instructor leading us, i moved to the back, as sec comm, u don't wanna lose any man. we did lots of equipment checking to make sure nothing was lost, but our dear thai cadet joe had to lose his ammo pouch towards the end. a ride on a tonner got us back to camp and after a well-deserved powder bath, we concussed.

day 2 of navigation was quite fun, exercise tenderfoot was a good experience. there were plenty of incidences. someone's totally out of this world reaction to a hornet's nest as he proned next to a tree, how another cadet's helmet saved his life as he feel into a drain, how i almost lost the safety rings to the smoke grenade just coz i was too excited, that so many guys fell out because they picked up injuries on the way.

ocs is not going to be easier, but the tough training makes it all worth it. it works out somehow.
