Am i right to say i'm quite settled here in ocs?

The army has definitely changed my lifestyle. Today, time passes so fast. it really really flies and i am amazed as i see the time go past me. Baffling would be the word to use. it seemed like it was just yesterday tt i completed bmt and entered ocs.

The weekly routine is becoming erriely familiar.book-in, rush to fall in, drink lots of water in the morning and at night, spend countless precious wee-hr minutes in the toilet clearing the inevitable reservior after the night water parades. Who can forget the even madder rush to bookout and the clamour that precedes each fall-in in bookout attire. The frentic and spotless area-cleaning that takes so much out of everyone. That leaves u to wonder if it's better to have more out-fields than to stay in camp. It is a question of comfort for high standards versus messiness with lower standards imposed. This is also the time to commit mistakes, make them and learn from em', fast.

I have limited time outside. If i'm lucky, it stretches beyond a day as it is with this week's bookout schedule. WIth this time, would u spend more time with your 1) friends 2) girlfriend(s) 3) family 4) ownself? it's a personal choice. sometimes, i find myself wanting to bookout quite badly without really planning for the next course of action when i'm out on my own. Strangely, i've also become adverse to spending money. In camp, monetary exchange is not a daily affair and booking out means spending on transport, food, specific purchases, restocking ocs food rations. tt's quirky.

The army half marathon was a first and rather messy experience. it is the case with all these activities for the masses. At an event which obviously had more males than females, i was able to keep up with my friend as we weaved tru the crowds of stagnant soldiers who were attired in so many different vests and the ocassional families for the first 9 km. My leg started to act up and the muscle was incredibly tight. there after, i completed the 12 km at my own pace. The ocs vest certainly stood out. Other units were outstanding in their bearing as well, such as the commandos and the guardsmen. Everyone of the guys from my cohorts are in the army and this is one instance to bump into friends from pri, sec n jc. I wish i could have been more enthusiastic but the run did take a bit out of me and i wasn't in the best of the conversationalist mood.

Never take anything for granted. Remember, your health is the thing that you have to protect. It is for life and nothing, i say again, nothing is worth giving up your health for.
