The experiences of the past few weeks have shown that there is alot more to the job. It's hard not to mention work and i wouldn't attempt to make an exemption.

Just before work is over for the day, a call comes in to release your man. You go arghz... it means a trip down to another camp to fetch documents, another trip up to the detention barracks and seeing that he is escorted out of the camp before your task is complete. Nsmen are caught all the time, anytime. As long as the police and immigration authorities are at work, and ur file is alive, one cannot hide for long before the law catches up. I had one such experience and it resulted in the shortest amt of time i had ever spent packing for an overseas trip. Nonetheless, it was exciting and u warm up in the strange thoughts that u r working when others r not, that your inactivity is another person's misery. However, the offenders aren't let off, in fact, they should have an extended stay in the db cell, just to let reality hit em'.

Ever heard of one to call 500 plus man when the original intend was to call down a number just shy of 200. When i conducted a briefing that day, it was an element of panic tt seared through when men just continued streaming into the auditorium that had a capacity of just 300. It was just a like a sell-out concert, the people can't get enough of u; only difference was there was no star, there was only me.

I have enlarged the role of the manpower officer. It now encompasses being the welfare bloc, the postman bloc and the major mobilisation bloc. It is going to be a busy next few months. I can only see an easier time come july. But it's all the learning experience. The work place is getting more bearable. It's not so bad with 12 people sharing just 3 terminals. There is some spirit. Afterall, what are pioneers? I believe pioneers set the tone, the standards and the SOPs that are so vital in the SAF, or any organisation for that matter.

On another note, driving is becoming second nature, it's good stuff and i'm enjoying it. I don't get to drive often but i'm confident, getting more as the day goes on. congratulations too to the next batch of certified drivers; more rides to tap. that's the gd stuff abt growing older; friends who have wheels.

Da vinci the movie: Follows the book quite closely, and there's adequate suspense. But i believe one would enjoy it more w/o reading the book.

Live on and Live Strong!
