A picture of a man and his two sons adorned the papers somewhere last week. It read family unity. In the face of a difficult situation, the fallen one still has his sons who stand by him. That, for me, was an expression of unity and family strength. It is hard to see how any possible public sympathy won through such a display can actually have a profound effect on the ongoing court proceedings. Thus, i do feel that this public appearence, served nothing more than it appeared; a man and his sons, answering for his actions.

Yet, there is the other perspective. This was evidently a silly move. Why do you expose your children to public media? Not only is it ill-advised, it is damning to their future. These are young people at the start of their careers, and who knows what the blighting effects of this episode may bring? In other words, if you were to go down, you should go down alone. As a father, the head of the family, do not allow or contribute to bringing your loved ones down as well.

So which argument is justified? And which side are you on?

A tragic episode, a lesson to be learnt and remembered.
